Zusammenfassung

Im abschließenden Beitrag des Handbuchs Visuelle Kommunikationsforschung geben mehrere ForscherInnen einen Ausblick auf aktuelle und zukünftige Herausforderungen im Forschungsfeld der Visuellen Kommunikation. Es wird die Dringlichkeit betont, adäquate Ansätze zur Erforschung von Bewegtbildern zu entwickeln. Zudem werden neue Kommunikationsformen und Kommunikationsumgebungen, wie sie durch Augmented und Virtual Reality ermöglicht werden, sowie automatisierte Verfahren zur Analyse großer Bildmengen und Bilddaten reflektiert. Aber auch theoretische Anforderungen an die Erforschung von komplexen Sichtbarkeitsverhältnissen werden angesprochen. Schließlich bleiben forschungsethische Fragen sowie Fragen nach dem Zeigen von Bildern in wissenschaftlichen Publikationen aktuell und müssen stets neu verhandelt werden.
