Zusammenfassung

The rapidly increasing use of Big Data in many spheres of society comes with a number of important ethical, social and regulatory issues. This is particularly so in the domain of biomedicine and health. The German Ethics Council has recently published a report on "Big Data and Health – Data Sovereignty: Shaping Informational Freedom“. This article presents main findings from the report as they apply to the field of biomedical research.
